The hike will see VAT on tickets increase from six per cent to the maximum 23 per cent after months of bitter debate.
MPs from the ruling Socialist Party were eventually instructed to vote in favour of the increase, despite some arguing that bullfighting was “an integral part of Portuguese heritage and important to the local economy.”
Abolish this repugnant heritage is this the kind of heritage you feel proud of? How sad

The word "tradition" has been used worldwide to legitimize inhumane behavior, towards both animals and humans. It's time to prove yourself human. I love Portugal and the Portuguese people....I married one. There is so much to be proud of....the discoveries, fado, a carnation revolution....the Portuguese people have the strength of character to set the example for other countries. The English banned fox hunting.....it's time for Portugal to take the bull by the horns and continue aspiring to greater heights!
