According to holiday booking search engine Holidu, Portugal is placed just behind the Netherlands in occupancy rates this summer.
Besides British and Spanish tourists, the number of German and French nationals searching for accommodation in Portugal rose considerably this year.
Portugal is trailed by Croatia and Spain in the overall ranking found on www.holidu.com

I was born in Lisbon 55 years ago. In 2013, I visited my homeland for the first time since 1974. I am not surprised by the increase in tourism. Portugal is one of few countries in Europe that is affordable.
