Vice-President of the PSD bench Ricardo Baptista Leite on 13 March made a dramatic appeal to the Portuguese to "cancel everything and stay at home", stressing that this "is not a time for political debate", but for union.

"I appeal to all Portuguese, cancel everything: cancel the party, cancel the trip, cancel the beach, cancel the conference, cancel the wedding, the christening, the bachelor party, cancel everything and stay home when staying at home is delaying the coronavirus", he said, in an intervention in the current debate, required by the CDS-PP, about the country's response to the Coronavirus - COVID 19, and which in the end was applauded by his bench, by the CDS- PP and also by some deputies of the PS.

The doctor also considered that "Portugal is in a state of war against the new coronavirus".

"This is not the time for debate or political evaluation, it is the time for all of us to come together, to clearly support all the difficult measures announced yesterday (12 March) by the Government", he said, stressing that "the only vaccine" against the coronavirus "is information and knowledge”.
