A weekly seasonal service between Providence’s Green Airport and Ponta Delgada will be provided for ten weeks, throughout July and August, beginning on Thursday, 30 June, and will continue through to Thursday, 1 September.
A 222 seat two-class Airbus 310 aircraft will be used to operate the route, which local airport and tourism officials believe “is certain to appeal to families, who have emigrated to the United States, in particular those who have settled in parts of Rhode Island and South-eastern, Massachusetts that are closer to Green Airport.”
It marks the Azorean airline’s return to Rhode Island six years after it stopped its flights to and from Providence.
