According to national Airport Management Company ANA the blustery conditions were expected to affect flights until at least 6am this morning.
Flights from Paris, Madrid and Lisbon were cancelled yesterday and six diverted to airports including Porto Santo, Lisbon, Frankfurt and Stuttgart.
