On Monday, the first day of the strike, all boats were stopped, union leader Carlos Costa told Lusa, adding that a talk with the company managers “brought nothing new”.

The union hopes that the third and last day of industrial action on Wednesday will also see all sailings cancelled, but only then will they decide on further courses of action.

The strike revolves around a €60 bonus that had been promised to the ferry captains, but which they claim has been “suspended”.

The company, on the other hand, says that they are holding meetings with the unions to advance with this payment.

The Soflusa web page states that all sailings are cancelled apart from those demanded over the three days by the arbitration court.
