The arrests took place in the context of an ongoing investigation, in which it was possible to collect information regarding the arrival in Portugal by air of two foreign citizens from a Latin American country carrying a large amount of narcotics.
In collaboration with the Federal Police of Brazil, it was possible to identify, locate and detain the two suspects upon their arrival at the Lisbon airport because it was confirmed that they were carrying, concealed in the structure of two suitcases, a large amount of cocaine, which was seized and which, if it reached illicit distribution circuits, would be sufficient for the composition of at least 22,000 individual doses.
Subsequently, a third suspect was eventually identified and detained, also of foreign nationality, who was the final recipient of the seized drug.
The detainees, aged between 20 and 32 years old, were present for the first judicial interrogation of the accused detained before the competent judicial authority, pending the subsequent terms of the process subject to the measure of coercion pre-trial detention.
