There are three international ride-hailing Apps in Portugal Uber, Cabify and Taxify, plus a domestic platform called Chofer.

The companies will have to get a licence from the Portuguese Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes, which is valid for 10 years.

Only companies will be able to get a licence and use the platforms.

The new law says that the platform operators must pay a contribution to cover the administrative costs of the regulation equivalent to 5% of their intermediation fee.

The drivers will have to have had a car driving licence for more than three years.

The drivers are also going to have to pass a training course, though the length of the course has not yet been defined.
