The Portugal News is extremely excited to finally launch a section that has been on our minds and in our hearts for a while. It is a vital part of the Portuguese community, as well as a great big part of Portugal’s appeal.

Of course we are talking about surfing. With around 300 sunny days a year and more than 850km of beaches, Portugal proves to be a real surfer’s paradise. From the biggest surfed waves in the world, to roaring barrels and small beginner waves, Portugal has something to offer for any surfer, on any skill level. We are going to try to bring this truly breathtaking sport closer to you, our readers, while also letting you in on the secret surf lingo, introducing pioneers and legends to you, letting you know what the world of surf competition is up to and just generally keeping you informed about cool surf stories and facts. So let’s talk about surf, dude.
