At very high risk the IPMA placed almost 60 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Portalegre, Beja and Faro.

The entire Alentejo region and around 30 other municipalities in the districts of Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Coimbra, Viseu and Vila Real are at high risk of fire.

The remaining territory presents a moderate and low risk, depending on the region.

Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The critical period of fires lasts until the end of September and, until then, it is prohibited to make extensive fires or burning in heaps without authorization, to use stoves or grills throughout the countryside, and to smoke or make any kind of fire in the forest areas.

It is also prohibited to launch balloons from burning fuse or rockets or to carry out work in the forest that could cause sparks.

For today, the IPMA forecasts a small increase in the minimum temperature in the North and Central coasts, generally cloudy skies on the North and Central coasts. The wind will sometimes blow strong in the highlands of the Center and South and on the coastal strip south of Cabo da Roca.

The IPMA today placed the district of Faro under a yellow warning (the least serious) because of the persistence of high values ​​of the maximum temperature. The warning continues until 9:00 pm on 5 August.

The minimum temperatures will vary between 14º (Bragança, Viseu and Guarda) and 21º (Faro) and the maximum between 22º (Porto) and 34º (Faro).
