The incident took place in August on the public road, near a restaurant in the city of Silves, Faro district, with the suspect having then fired two shots with a 6.35mm caliber gun towards the victim, who was not hit “merely by chance”, indicated the police in a statement.

"The other man wasn't hit merely by chance, since the shots were fired a short distance between them," a Faro PJ source told Lusa.

According to the police, "the crime took place in a context of alcoholism and as a result of previous disagreements."

The man was arrested for allegedly committing the crime of attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.
