“Portugal is a mature country. We have already had two elections since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Elections and the pandemic have never contaminated each other. It is essential to keep things properly separated”, said António Costa.

In electoral periods, from the perspective of the prime minister, "it is about affirming alternatives, therefore, the differences between them so that the Portuguese can choose".

“In combating the pandemic, it is the opposite. We need unity among all to face an enemy that is common: the virus. Things cannot be contaminated”, he said.
