The cases have been confirmed, so far, in the North, Lisbon and Tagus Valley and Algarve regions.

According to the DGS, the new cases were confirmed by the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge, having identified, "among the available samples, through sequencing, the clade (subgroup of the virus) from West Africa, which is the least aggressive".

"The identified cases remain under clinical follow-up, are stable and on an outpatient basis. Epidemiological investigations of the suspected cases that are being detected are ongoing, with the aim of identifying transmission chains and potential new cases and respective contacts", adds the note.

The DGS is still awaiting results for other samples.
