The six occupants of the Blue Origin company capsule crossed the barrier that separates the limit of the Earth's atmosphere and space and felt microgravity for a moment.

The trip, Blue Origin's sixth with crew members, took just over 10 minutes, like other flights, between take-off and landing.

The flight was broadcast live by Blue Origin, run by US magnate Jeff Bezos.

Alongside Mário Ferreira, 54, president of the Pluris Investments group, through which he holds a stake in the capital of the TVI television station and the Douro Azul cruise company, are Egyptian engineer Sara Sabry, Anglo-American mountaineer Vanessa O 'Brien, co-founder of YouTube sports channel "Dude Perfect" Coby Cotton, former telecoms executive Steve Young and technology expert Clint Kelly III.

Mário Ferreira thus became the first Portuguese space tourist.
