The new cases of bird flu have been detected in chickens, turkeys and ducks on a farm in Beja, some two months after the all clear had been given.

“On August 11, a new outbreak of avian influenza virus infection was confirmed in a home farm with chickens, turkeys and ducks, in the parish of S. Marcos de Ataboeira, municipality of Castro Verde, district of Beja”.

“Given the evidence of continued circulation of the HPAI virus”, DGAV asks that all poultry keepers comply with safety measures and good production practices, while also avoiding contacts between domestic and wild birds.
