“Blood donations are currently below desirable levels, namely with regard to erythrocyte concentrates from groups “A positive”, “O positive”, with reserves available for about four days, all other blood groups have days of reserves”, according to a statement from the Portuguese Federation of Benevolent Blood Donors (FEPODABES).

The federation appeals to all healthy people, over 18 years old and weighing more than 50 kilos, to donate blood, remembering that “every day 900 to 1,000 units of blood are needed”.

Cited in the statement, the president of FEPODABES, Alberto Mota, asks people to donate blood before leaving for holidays.

The federation appeals to the Portuguese to help keep blood reserves at stable levels, and interested parties can consult where they can give blood through the link www.fepodabes.ptdador.pt
