Braga appears in the Financial Times ranking as the best city of the future in the category of strategy for attracting foreign investment, within the scope of cities with less than 200,000 inhabitants, advances InvestBraga, Braga's Economic Boosting Agency. It has therefore risen by five positions since 2022.

This is the third time that Braga ranks in the fDi magazine ranking, “European Cities and Regions of the Future – the Best and the brightest among Europe investments destination”, highlights InvestBraga, in a statement.

This distinction from the Financial Times “proves the relevance of the municipality in Europe. At the same time, it is a recognition that will certainly attract new business to the region”, considers the executive director of InvestBraga, Carlos Silva.

In the last year alone, the Economic Boosting and Investment Attraction (DEAI) area supported 122 investment projects and held 260 meetings with companies, entrepreneurs, potential investors, investment facilitators and other entities supporting and promoting economic activities.

The agency recorded an increase in the number of international investors representing a slice of 42% of the projects monitored by the agency, i.e. almost double the 2021 figures with 26%. “Therefore, it is a question of a growth of international investors looking for Braga to create new units for their multinationals and install their projects”, advances the director of DEAI, Gil Carvalho.

Over these nine years, InvestBraga has already supported 997 investment projects, of which 278 are international, a fact that has also contributed to the city's position in the Financial Times ranking, according to the agency.

Carlos Silva also points out that “the investment attraction policies, implemented in the city since 2014, are evaluated by the fDi magazine, through quantifiable and validated parameters for each evaluated city”.

Braga is therefore highlighted in the fDi Intelligence magazine supplement with a page on the conditions that the city provides for companies and talent.

The “fDi European Cities and Regions of the Future” awards ceremony will take place on March 14, in Cannes, France, within the scope of MIPIM 2023, one of the largest real estate investment fairs in Europe.
