Sadly this time around due to the North and Central Bombeiros not having a charity organisation set up like the Alerta in the Algarve, I had to seek another charity instead. Saying this I will return and raise funds for the Bombeiros in the future.

Having met 2 incredible Bombeiros at the World Firefighter Games in Lisbon in 2022, Luís Silva and António Oliveira, both are collectively seeking to organize a charity foundation similar to Alerta. Both these 2 gentlemen have assisted in planning a safe route and will be joining me on my next charity challenge.

We are riding from Porto to Lisbon which is 365km in 2 days (cycling in the daylight hours) being supported by Carlos Moedas, the ride starts today and tomorrow, 4th May, before the fire season is upon us.

Not only to raise awareness of mental health but this time for Serve On, (an International Rescue charity based in the UK), who recently attended the earthquakes in Turkey. A team is full of volunteers from service, military and medical backgrounds, who respond to international disasters when required. Originally started by an ex-colleague of mine from Wiltshire Fire Service.

The second charity and just as important is via doTERRA Healing Hands Action Club and through them, we are raising funds for much-needed Incubators for Syrian babies. The Action Club encourages people to do just that, take action and raise funds to help others. I am honoured to be asked to join them.

Fireman's Tired Eyes has evolved and whilst still keeping the helmet as a symbol of rescue, I have changed it and added FTE, meaning Free Trauma Energy, giving everyone hope that we can take action and change our thoughts and emotions and restore our nervous system to a clam state again. Through exercise, we can change our mental and physical health.

By doing these events, my wish is to raise funds but also to bring people together and offer encouragement and support. I appreciate the funds going outside of Portugal this time around but I will return and I cannot thank the Bombeiros who actively want to support and ride with me, with no return or benefit for themselves. These show the character and best human traits we should aspire to.
