Following overwhelming demand, the band has added two extra Dublin concerts, September 1 and 2, to their Music of the Spheres global tour, which includes two nights at Croke Park on August 29 and 30.

The artist presale started on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Fans needed to sign up on the band's website to get a code to have early access to tickets.

As was to be expected, demand for tickets to witness Chris Martin & Co.'s first return to Dublin since 2017 was tremendous, and the Ticketmaster website suffered under the weight of the thousands of fans wanting to get their hands on them.

Many people looking for tickets used Twitter to discuss their options, with both Ticketmaster and Coldplay becoming hot topics in Ireland.

One Twitter user tweeted: "Genuine question - has anyone really managed to obtain #coldplaydublin tickets yet? Many people are having trouble getting out of Ticketmaster's queueing system.

"I visited Ticketmaster to try to learn the cause of the platform's capacity problems. No response as of yet.

Some of them who uploaded images of the error messages they said were displayed to them on the Ticketmaster website claimed they had been expelled from the line.

"Ticket sales are Ticketmaster's sole objective. Another Twitter user said, "How does it not have a system that can handle the demand? "

Many of those who made it to the queue were discouraged as well; some even shared pictures of the thousands of people in queue in front of them.

There is still hope for those who did not receive a presale code or who did not have a chance to purchase tickets during the presale, since on Friday at 10 am, regular sales begin for the three Dublin dates.
