“At a time when public spending on healthcare has been increasing, with implications also on costs for users, especially those suffering from chronic diseases, it is important to highlight that, according to Infarmed’s market monitoring reports”, the average price of generic medicines has decreased by 66% in the last 17 years, says the Portuguese Association of Generic and Biosimilar Medicines (APOGEN).

APOGEN emphasizes, in a statement, that “this means that there was a significant decrease in the final amount to be paid by Portuguese families each time they opt for these more cost-effective medicines”.
