“Vaccination is a great 'weapon' against public health diseases, it is in fact the best instrument to control the spread of certain situations that can put public health at risk”, said Pedro Ramos, during a visit to the Center of Bom Jesus Health, in Funchal.

According to the official, the Madeira Health Service (Sesaram) invested around 500 thousand euros in the acquisition of 52,300 vaccines against the flu and 52,000 against covid-19 and started the simultaneous vaccination campaign for the two diseases on 25 September, a week before the mainland.

Pedro Ramos explained that the vaccine against Covid-19 covers “all strains” identified between 2020 and 2022.

Vaccines for flu and Covid-19 are free for at-risk groups and people over the age of 55, with a 37% contribution for other users.
