One week before the decisive clash of the 28th round, scheduled for April 6th, the 'Lions' are looking to at least maintain their one-point advantage over the champions, also in the comfort of having one less game played with Famalicão.

When the league returns after the international break, the main candidates for the title will play on Friday, an unusual day, due to the clash between them on Tuesday, in the second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals, four days before the two sides clash in the league.

Despite facing the 13th placed team, just three points above the 'relegation zone' of the league, Sporting will not forget their trip to Amadora and the difficulties they experienced at home, in the first round, where they won 3-2, after being 2-1 down.

Coach Rúben Amorim is counting on Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, the competition's top scorer, with 22 goals, to counter their average away campaign, in which they lost the only points so far this season, as they are unbeaten at the Estadio José Alvalade.

Benfica are huge favourites against Desportivo de Chaves, who are bottom of the league, already six points below safety. The first meeting between the sides ended in a 2-0 Benfica victory.

The team coached by German Roger Schmidt, who will be without central defender António Silva due to suspension, will not be able to waste any points against the Flavienses, since, in addition to chasing Sporting, they want to avoid getting closer to FC Porto.

The 'Dragons' occupy third place, six points away from the 'Reds', and, like their rivals, they will face a team that is fighting to remain in the main division, Estoril Praia on Saturday, who was beaten 4-0 in the Portuguese Cup, but defeated FC Porto in the league and in the League Cup.

The team led by Sérgio Conceição is trying to win their fourth consecutive game, starting with the 5-0 victory over Benfica, despite having won only two victories away from home in the last six matches.

Sporting de Braga, fourth placed, with five points less than FC Porto, ends the gameweek on Monday, at the Portimonense stadium, hoping to capitalize on the clash between Vitória de Guimarães and Moreirense, who are fifth and sixth placed.

Although Sporting and Benfica take all of the attention on Friday, the 27th round begins with Gil Vicente hosting Famalicão, eighth and ninth placed.
