This initiative is organised by the Ferreiras Football Club, supported by the Albufeira City Council, as well as the parish councils of Ferreiras, Guia, Albufeira, and Olhos de Água. The competition also benefits from the collaboration of the Portugal Triathlon Federation (FTP), which will provide technical support for the events.
The race begins with a 750-meter swim, starting from the fishing port ramp. This is followed by a 20km bike ride, starting near the Marina.
In this stage of the race, athletes will complete two laps of a route that passes through Avenida D. Manuel I and the Vale, Sesmarias, and Galé roads. The return to the Marina is via Caminho da Baleeira, passing through Rua do Farol.
The race concludes with a 5km run that includes two laps around the Marina, extending to Rua do Novo Mundo.
Participation in the XI Albufeira Triathlon is open to all interested athletes, whether in the individual or relay races. The exception will be participation in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo Individual Absolute Championship and the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo Club Championship, which are limited to athletes and clubs licensed in the region. Registration is open until the end of Monday (13th) and must be submitted through the official website of the Portugal Triathlon Federation.
The 11th edition of the Albufeira Triathlon is scheduled to start at 2 pm, taking place just weeks before the city becomes a European City of Sport 2026. The awards ceremony for the top finishers in each category will begin at 4:30 pm.
