The same party also suggested a 5% increase in pensions, which should not be less than €75.

The communist parliamentary group also proposed, through a draft resolution, that the National Minimum Wage, currently set at €870, should increase to €1,050 from next year.

In the context of the budgetary process, the PCP proposes an "increase in the purchasing power of public administration workers, including workers in the public business sector and the local business sector."

This increase, according to Paula Santos, should take into account the "accumulated losses in purchasing power exceeding 20%" that these workers have suffered "since 2010," and should be finalised through collective bargaining by the Government, with the PCP proposing a minimum increase of €150.

Regarding the meal allowance, the communist parliamentary group believes that this amount should be increased to €12 per day.

Government proposal

However, according to Expresso, the Minister of Labour, Rosário Palma Ramalho, says that the increase in the national minimum wage will reach €920, with no possibility for negotiation. With this measure, the minimum wage will increase by €50, gross, compared to the current €870 per month. Among the measures outlined by the government, a progressive increase in the national minimum wage to €970 in 2027 and €1,020 in 2028 is foreseen. As for the average wage, the plans are to raise it to €1,890 in 2028.

Regarding pensions, the minister reveals that extraordinary supplements to pensions will only be granted if the state's accounts allow it.
