According to the municipality, this partnership fits into “a regional strategy that aims to consolidate the Serra Route as an integrated tourism product, promoting sustainable motorhome tourism in the Algarve interior”.
Through the creation of this regional network, the objective is to establish the Algarve as a destination of excellence for European motorhome tourism, promoting cooperation between municipalities and offering visitors diverse experiences, ranging from the purchase of local products to the visit of heritage sites, including contact with communities and the discovery of the natural landscapes of the mountains.
As the driving force behind the project, the In Loco Association coordinates the intermunicipal network, of which São Brás de Alportel is an active member through its Municipal Motorhome Service Area, inaugurated in March 2022.
Located next to the EN2 highway, on Rua Jaime Pinto, this infrastructure places São Brás de Alportel on the map of reference destinations for motorhome tourism in the Algarve, providing modern and functional conditions designed to offer visitors a comfortable and authentic stay.
With the signing of this protocol, the entities involved commit to "collaborating in the economic and cultural enhancement of the endogenous resources of the Algarve's rural territory, leveraging synergies and strengthening institutional cooperation, for the benefit of the region's sustainable development".
