The stable weather conditions that have marked the last few days in mainland Portugal should end soon, with the arrival of an Atlantic cold front that should change the weather in several regions, with more cloudiness and periods of rain, especially in the North and Centre of the country.
The anticyclone continues to influence the mainland territory, leading to partly cloudy or clear skies and light winds from the north. This Friday, the anticyclonic weather is expected to continue, still with predominantly clear skies, although temporarily very cloudy in the North and Center.
Drizzle may occur in Minho at the end of the day. Frost is also expected in the interior North and Center, as well as morning fog, which may persist in places in the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes and Beira Alta, according to the specialized weather portal Meteored. Approaching the Atlantic Cold Front
Saturday
From Saturday morning onwards, the weather pattern will begin to change more noticeably. The sky will become much cloudier and the wind will start blowing from the west, a sign of the approach of an Atlantic cold front.
This disturbance may initiate precipitation in the Minho region between 6:00 and 7:00 AM, gradually spreading to other areas of the North and Central regions throughout the morning.
During Saturday afternoon, precipitation should become more intense and frequent, especially in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, and Porto. The rain will progressively extend southward and eastward. Regions located north of the Montejunto-Estrela mountain range, including districts such as Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Vila Real, Viseu, Bragança, Guarda, Coimbra, and Leiria, are more likely to be affected.
However, some periods of intermittent precipitation may occur in areas of Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal, or Portalegre.
Sunday
On Sunday, November 30th, the dissipating front should still cause light and scattered showers between midnight and late morning, mainly in the Central and Southern regions. Precipitation may reach the Alentejo and Algarve regions before losing intensity, according to Meteored.
Throughout the rest of the day, the sky will remain very cloudy, but the chance of rain becomes small. The wind should return to the north quadrant, marking the end of the passage of this cold front.
