According to the Municipality, the hotel will have 250 accommodation units, with capacity for 500 guests, and will be equipped with a basement, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and complementary services, as well as the necessary technical and parking areas for its operation.

The urban development project – whose architectural design was approved during the validity of the Armação de Pêra Detailed Plan and received favourable opinions from Turismo de Portugal and the Portuguese Environment Agency/Algarve Hydrographic Region Administration – represents an estimated investment of 50 million euros and will have a construction period of 36 months.

The local authority also informs that, during the licensing process for this urban development project and in accordance with the urbanization contract signed on November 14th, the Municipality of Silves mandated the installation of a rainwater drainage collector (DN1600) on Avenida Beira-Mar Oeste, in Armação de Pêra, as well as the creation of a public sanitation network (domestic sewage network) and rainwater drainage on the aforementioned Avenida Beira-Mar.

These works, "besides being necessary and indispensable for the construction of the tourist development, will reinforce and improve the infrastructure conditions and general urban services available throughout the western area of the town of Armação de Pêra," says the local authority.

Public parking

The Municipality also states that "the promoter of the tourism development has expressed interest in contributing to the construction of public parking in Vale do Olival, a project under development by the Municipality of Silves, which will enhance the western area of the Armação de Pêra waterfront."

"All these works constitute an important and decisive contribution to the filling and completion of the urban fabric on a vacant lot, with the consequent infrastructure development and improvement of the urban environment, as well as to the increase and improvement of the tourism offer, making the town more attractive with a tourism development that will generate approximately 100 direct jobs and boost the local economy," the municipality emphasizes.

In the same statement, the Municipality informs that due to these urban operations, changes will be introduced to road traffic, "to be announced in due course." One example is the taxi rank on Avenida Beira-Mar, to the west, near the “Busíris” pastry shop, which will be temporarily relocated to Rua Francisco Oliveira Santos, opposite the main entrance of the “T.A.T.” shopping center in Armação de Pêra, until the completion of the requalification works on Rua D. João II, in a first phase, and the urbanization works on Avenida Beira-Mar west, in a second phase.

The Municipality of Silves therefore requests “the understanding of those who live and work in the vicinity of the site of the licensed works, considering that these works, notwithstanding any inconvenience they may cause, constitute an added value for the infrastructure, qualification and enhancement of the western area of Armação de Pêra, as well as for the economic and social development of this town, through the improvement of the quality of life of its residents and visitors”.
