FC Porto, still licking their wounds after the home defeat by Benfica, found easy pickings against Vitória Guimarães who were reduced to ten men after only sixty seconds. Sporting suffered a humiliating home defeat at the hands of Rio Ave, while newly promoted Famalicão have surprised everyone and lead the Primeira Liga following their 3-2 victory at CD Aves.


Benfica went a goal up midway through the first-half at SC Braga as Pizzi slotted home a penalty and it was the same player who added number two just after the interval. Four minutes later it was game over as Os Arsenalistas Bruno Viana turned Haris Seferovic’s cross into his own net and twenty minutes from time Esgaio repeated the feat in front of his own goal to gift Benfica a flattering 4-0 victory.


Rio Ave took an early lead at Sporting through Augusto but the Lions hit back to lead 2-1 thanks to goals from Bruno Fernando and Luis Phellype. In a dramatic last five minutes Sporting were reduced to ten men when Sebastian Coates saw red followed by two penalties for Rio Ave - converted by Ronan and Augusto - to give the visitors an unexpected victory.


An eighth minute goal by Lago was enough to give Moreirense victory over Portimonense who had Willyan sent-off ten minutes from time for a second bookable offence.
