Portugal’s Prime Minister, António Costa, has said that a final agreement on the terms of the UK’s exit from the European Union must be reached in October, after what he described as “real progress” in talks so far.

Prime Minister Costa, who was speaking in Salzburg, denied that an extraordinary summit on Brexit had been scheduled, despite this having been confirmed earlier by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. The UK is due to leave the EU on 29 March next year.
