Man's body found floating in Cascais beach

The body of a man between 40 and 50 was found on 27 February floating in Praia da Parede, in Cascais, Lisbon district, and the death was declared on the spot, a source of the Maritime Authority said.

“There was no evidence of a crime,” Rui Porto da Cascais captain, Rui Pereira da Terra told Lusa, adding that, however, the Judiciary Police has already been informed.

The alert for the sighting of a body floating on the beach occurred at 11.45am, mobilizing the firemen of Parede and Maritime Authority operatives, who removed the corpse.

“The National Institute of Medical Emergency was at the scene and confirmed the death”, informed Rui Pereira da Terra, referring that the body will be autopsied in the office of the Institute of Legal Medicine, which is located in the cemetery of Guia, in Cascais, to find out what the causes of death are.

According to information from the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), the occurrence was registered at 11.30am, mobilizing nine operatives and five vehicles.
