This is despite the fact that 72,783 accidents were recorded in the period, 3,870 more than a year earlier, the ANSR said in a report posted on its website, which draws on figures from the urban PSP police force and the GNR national guard.
The ANSR also states that 1,116 people were seriously injured in road accidents in the period, 159 fewer than in the same period a year ago, while the number of slight injuries was 21,441, one fewer than a year earlier.
