Natural Park in Castelo Branco wins Architecture World Awards

The Parque Natural do Barrocal, in Castelo Branco won the prize World Architecture Awards – Wan Awards in the category of urban landscape, announced the municipality.

“It is a proud moment for Castelo Branco and for all citizens to have this international recognition of our Barrocal”, says the Mayor of Castelo Branco, José Augusto Alves, according to Lusa News Agency.

The project was on a list of eight world finalists and competed with countries like the USA, Mexico, Denmark or Australia. “We are talking about a unique example of the harmonization between the preservation of biodiversity that exists in these cities and its use by the population, characteristics that give it distinction, but also modernity”, reads the note, according to Lusa.

The Parque Natural do Barrocal, located in the urban perimeter of the city, was opened since the beginning of November. This place has seven viewpoints, several geological training actions, natural trails, children’s playground, bird watching and many other attractions
