Madeira and Algarve are regions most affected by pandemic

The Algarve and Madeira were the regions of Portugal most affected by the pandemic, between March and December 2020.

In terms of revenue, the Algarve suffered a drop of 27.4% and Madeira 21.6%, according to data from the Directorate Regional Statistics Office (DREM).

Madeira and the Algarve suffered losses well above the national average, in terms of turnover, which nationally dropped by 14.3%.
