The districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Viseu and Guarda are at extreme risk of exposure to ultraviolet radiation, the Portuguese Institute Maritime and Atmospheric Institute (IPMA)

Madeira and the islands of Terceira, São Miguel and Flores (the Azores) are currently at very high levels, while the island of Fayal is at high risk of exposure to UV radiation.

IPMA recommends that regions at extreme risk avoid exposure to the sun as much as possible.

For regions with very high risk, IPMA advises the use of sunglasses with UV filters, a t-shirt, a hat, a parasol, and sunscreen. The institute also recommends that children avoid exposure to the sun.
