The biggest declines were registered, on the other hand, in the last four years, in Poland (-35%), Belgium and Hungary (-22% each), Denmark (-20%) and the Czech Republic (-19%).

Bulgaria (82 deaths per million inhabitants), Romania (81) and Lithuania (76) had, in 2023, the highest road mortality rates and Sweden (22), Malta (26) and Denmark (27) the smallest among EU Member States.
