In a statement published on its website, E-Redes explains that these are “scheduled interruptions, planned in advance”, with the aim of “guaranteeing the quality and reliability of the electricity service”.
“Maintaining the continuity and quality of the electricity supply is E-Redes' priority. To this end, we carry out localised work on the distribution network, making it necessary to temporarily interrupt the electricity supply to customers,” the statement explains.
The municipalities affected by this intervention are Lisbon, Oeiras, and Sintra (in the Lisbon district), Tomar (Santarém district), and Faro, Lagos, and Olhão (Faro district).
In Lisbon, the parish of Campolide, on Avenida Conselheiro Fernando de Sousa and Rua Professor Sousa da Câmara, will be affected, with the power outage scheduled to occur between 5:00am and 11:00am.
In Oeiras, the interruption of electricity supply will occur in the Union of Parishes of Algés, Linda-A-Velha and Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo between 7:00am and 11:00am.
In the municipality of Sintra, the works will affect the Union of Parishes of São João das Lampas and Terrugem between 6:00am and 11:00am, while in Tomar, the parishes of São João Batista and Santa Maria dos Olivais will be affected between 6:00am and 7:00am.
Algarve power cuts
In the Algarve, power outages are planned in the parishes of Montenegro (Faro), Quelfes (Olhão), and São Gonçalo de Lagos (Lagos), between 7:00am and 11:00am.
“During these interruptions, manoeuvres, connection work, repairs, or maintenance of network infrastructure are carried out whenever all possibilities of alternative power supply from existing installations have been exhausted,” indicates E-Redes.
According to the operator, “these interruptions also serve to correct situations that may generate insecurity in the electrical network and/or to prevent failures.”
