On its official website, the carrier informs that the departure from Funchal of the ship Lobo Marinho, scheduled for 8:00 am, and the return from Porto Santo, at 6:00 pm, were trips “cancelled due to the predicted bad weather conditions that could jeopardize the safety of passengers and the ship”.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) issued yellow warnings, escalated to red (the most severe on a scale of four) due to forecasts of strong sea agitation, with waves up to a maximum height of 14 metres on the north coast of Madeira Island and in Porto Santo.

Starting at 3pm on Friday, the warning is orange, with waves potentially reaching 12.5 metres, turning red between midnight and 6am on Saturday, with waves expected to reach between 7 and 7.5 metres and 14 metres.

In mountainous areas, the warning is orange for wind conditions, with gusts potentially reaching 130 kilometres per hour.

An orange warning has also been issued for the south coast of Madeira Island, due to forecasts of strong sea agitation, with waves potentially reaching up to 10 metre.
