I now understand why Rwanda is called the “land of a thousand hills”, which is unfortunate, as I did all my training at sea level. The temperature was also well above average, adding another dimension.

Anyway, somehow, I managed to keep up with Maia, who absolutely crushed it and…came first! She won the overall 110km and the separate 50km stage on Sunday. I came fifth in the men’s category and 2nd if you exclude the locals. 40 started the overall 110km race, and another 20 or so joined just for the 50k stage on Sunday.

Very privileged to run with Maia and absolutely love the Rwandan people. The kids from the villages were amazing and literally had 7-year-olds following us for 5km plus running in sliders!

Fundraising up to £19k against a target of £20k, so almost there!

Now back to training for the big one in April!
