The choice of Luís Neves was officially announced by the Presidency of the Republic on Saturday, 21 February, and the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 10 am at the Belém Palace in Lisbon.
At the same time, the three Secretaries of State of the ministry will also take office.
Paulo Simões Ribeiro, Telmo Correia and Rui Rocha will be reappointed as Deputy Secretary of State for Internal Administration, Secretary of State for Internal Administration and Secretary of State for Civil Protection, respectively, transitioning from Maria Lúcia Amaral's team.
Luís Neves was chosen by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro to replace Maria Lúcia Amaral, who resigned as Minister of Internal Administration following a wave of criticism regarding her handling of the response to Storm Kristin, which struck the country at the end of January.
