According to information available on the ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal website, around 9:30 am, 26 arrivals and 24 departures had been cancelled throughout the day.
ANA warns that "weather forecasts indicate adverse conditions that may affect operations (departures and arrivals) in the coming days," asking passengers to contact the company to confirm the status of their flight before heading to the airport.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), Madeira will be affected by the Regina depression.
The IPMA predicts an intensification of wind, starting this morning, blowing from the North with gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour (km/h), reaching up to 110 km/h in the highlands of Madeira Island.
