Érica Gomes jumped 5.46m, finishing behind Polish Karolina Kucharczyk (6.21), Russian Aleksandra Ruchkina (5.62) and Croatian Mikela Ristoski (5.61). Ana Filipe and Claudia Santos were seventh and ninth, with jumps of 5.24m and 5.12m.


The fourth-place of Érica Gomes secured a spot in the 2020 Paralympic Games, the second that Portugal has achieved in the Dubai Championships, with the silver medal of Carolina Duarte in the 200m T13 (visual impairment).


Miguel Monteiro was fifth in the shot put F40, with 10.18m, while Maria Odete Fiúza finished 10th in the 1500m T11.


To date, Portugal has 14 places at the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020: 10 in the boccia, two in athletics, one in paracanoeing and one in paracycling.
