This is the highest growth in current expenditure on health since 2008, according to the INE Health Satellite Account.

The preliminary results of the current expenditure on health of 2018 showed an increase in public expenditure of 5.3% and private of 4.6%.

In 2017, the current expenditure on health had increased by 3.6%, which meant 0.9 percentage points less than in the previous year.

For 2018, the INE estimated that the current expenditure was €18.345,1 billion, representing 9.1% of GDP, "reflecting the highest growth since 2008.”
