Negative coronavirus tests at the Vuelta a España

681 cyclists have tested negativ for coronavirus at the Vuelta a España, this was done during the second and last day of rest, and was announced today by the organization and the International Cycling Union (UCI).

In a statement, the two entities announced "their most sincere thanks" to all cyclists, team members and the organization of the 75th edition of the race. This was the fourth round of tests in the Spanish race, which had been done before the start of the race in Irun, and on the first rest day.

After 12 of the 18 stages, the 2020 edition of the Vuelta is led by Ecuador's Richard Carapaz (INEOS), with a 10-second lead over Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) and 31 seconds above Britain's Hugh Carthy (Education First), second and third, respectively. Among the Portuguese, Nelson Oliveira (Movistar) is the highest ranked, occupying the 46th place, followed by Rui Costa (UAE Emirates), in 52nd place. Ricardo Vilela (Burgos-BH), in 92nd place and Ivo Oliveira (UAE Emirates), is in 125th place, and Rui Oliveira (UAE Emirates) is placed 135th. Today the individual time trial of the 13th stage is fought, along the 33.7 kilometers between Muros and Mirador de Ézaro.
