According to a report by ECO, the Government has approved the creation of an extraordinary regime for the renewal of driving licenses in which people with driving licenses issued before 2008 can renew the license without taking an exam.

“The decree-law that creates an extraordinary regime for the revalidation of driving licenses was approved. In this way, it will be possible for holders of legally expired driving licenses to revalidate them without submitting to a special examination", reads the statement from the Council of Ministers.

The envisaged regime applies to driving licenses issued before January 1, 2008, whose validity periods stated in the respective physical documents do not correspond to the legally foreseen period in force, and which enable the driving of vehicles of categories AM, A1 , A2, A, B1, B, BE and agricultural vehicles.
