This growth was accompanied by strengthened operations throughout the year, with increased frequencies and supply adjustments in line with demand. Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, and the Algarve remained the main destinations, accounting for more than half of all journeys.

In percentage terms, Aveiro, Viseu, Coimbra, Torres Novas and Lisbon (Gare do Oriente) recorded the largest increases in demand.

The company also highlights the increase in passenger numbers in more than 200 locations where it provides the only regular long-distance road connection, in areas with no rail alternative or other interurban services. This growth is associated with student mobility and with the movement of residents who choose to live in the interior, maintaining frequent connections to metropolitan areas.

As part of the network reorganisation, direct connections to Lisbon, Porto and Faro airports were created, used by more than 400,000 passengers throughout 2025.

Sales through digital channels continued to grow, remaining the main channel for ticket purchases. According to the company, this trend reflects widespread adoption of simpler, faster purchasing processes, with access to differentiated fares not restricted to younger generations.

During the year, Rede Expressos also continued to invest in passenger information systems at terminals such as Sete Rios, Fátima and Coimbra, as well as in the development of a dynamic pricing system, the simplification of refunds and the implementation of new commercial conditions.

For 2026, the company plans to expand its territorial coverage, strengthen connections across the network, including to airports, introduce electric vehicles, review its loyalty scheme and expand its parcel dispatch and tracking services.

According to the managing director of Rede Expressos, Nelson Silva, the 2025 results reflect “the adaptation of supply to demand and continuous investment in service quality,” and emphasise that the company intends to continue responding to mobility needs in Portugal next year.
