The Albufeira Carpe Nox 2026 New Year's Eve program has been presented for this year.
During the program's presentation, the mayor of Albufeira emphasised that Albufeira Carpe Nox differs from year to year, as part of a strategy to generate anticipation and encourage people to return to Albufeira to celebrate New Year's Eve.

"We're committed to the program's quality, diversity, and innovation. It's a different concept from the usual New Year's Eve programs, which consist of a musical spectacle and fireworks. Furthermore, Albufeira Carpe Nox boasts a unique landscape—Fishermen's Beach—that's impossible to replicate."
José Carlos Rolo comments that those who come to Fishermen's Beach for New Year's Eve end up staying longer, contributing to the local economy, boosting hotel occupancy, restaurant traffic, and commerce in the region. “So, to complement Albufeira Carpe Nox, we have a parallel program that has been a success over the years,” he said, Paderne Medieval (December 31 to January 4) and Street Food sem Fronteiras curated by Chef Nuno Bergonse (December 31 to January 3).
“Stay open”
The mayor took the opportunity to challenge business owners to "keep their establishments open during these times of year, so that we can project a positive and high-quality image of the destination throughout the year."
On December 31st, the sands of the iconic Praia dos Pescadores will once again be filled with thousands of people cheering on the last night of the year. The program begins at 10 pm with a performance by Silence 4, David Fonseca's Coimbra band, who reunite to celebrate 30 years of their career and Portugal's biggest New Year's Eve celebration. The show features a bold, interactive stage featuring video projection, lighting, and innovative scenography, promising an immersive and exciting show, as has been the custom in previous editions of the event.
After the show, the new X stage will open. Set up on the sand in front of the main stage, the venue for the Nox Live Act, it will create an unforgettable interaction with the audience, the main stage, the sky, and the sea. The countdown to welcome 2026 begins early, with Stage X leading the way with a musical and multimedia show featuring Stage X, the main stage, and the sea. Simultaneously with the first aquatic pyromusical moment, two hundred giant illuminated balloons will be released over the audience.
Six years after the first edition of Albufeira Carpe Nox, the Flying Dragons – eight world champion paramotor pilots – return to Albufeira for an even more impactful and unforgettable performance, says the show's producer, emphasizing that "acclaimed pilots Tim Dews and Tom Dews promise a synchronized aerial choreography, using pyrotechnics, lasers, and suspended special effects, even more fantastic and daring, in what is the grand moment of farewell to the old year, before the countdown to the new year."
The Nox Live Act closes the Pyromusical and Aquatic show, moving onto the main stage for the final moment of the night with Nilson Honrado, one of the most prestigious and sought-after national DJs.
João Costa da Tavolanostra echoed José Carlos Rolo's opinion regarding the potential of the natural setting of the Albufeira Carpe Nox, highlighting that "since the first edition, on New Year's Eve 2019-2020, we have faced a huge challenge in ensuring and exceeding the quality of the event, but as the President mentioned, the focus has been on diversification and innovation year after year to further surprise and captivate our audience."
"Last year, Albufeira's New Year's Eve was the largest artistic event held in Portugal," he said. "The image of Fishermen's Beach with thousands of people cheering is completely overwhelming, and Albufeira Carpe Nox has already established itself as an essential brand and legacy in the national and international artistic scene, having managed to solidify its own identity," he said. "Therefore, it is essential to continue surprising and innovating."
