The president of the municipal executive highlighted the municipality's commitment, between 1995 and 2022, to the resolution of housing, having carried out more than 1,500 licensing projects for precarious housing, with the investment made in the Technical Office of the Highlands.


The mayor added that, through the Santo António Development Association (ASA), he also allocated more than 250 thousand euros for the recovery of housing for families in need.


Pedro Calado assured that the Municipality of Funchal "will not legalise anything that is not in accordance with the law", insisting on the urgency of the revision of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) to further this work of legalizing housing.


According to the social-democratic official, with the revision of the PDM, the municipality "will resume the 25% to 30% increase in the construction of housing cooperatives".


He said that about 170 are analyzed per semester and that, in the first six months of this year, 66 were deliberated for the rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings that will have tax benefits.


More than 173 building permits and 113 use permits were approved, he added.
