This is the first occasion that diesel prices have fallen this low since 2015.
Unleaded petrol can meanwhile be found at just under 1 euro and 10 cents.
Analysts have meanwhile predicted that petrol prices will continue to fall, with unleaded set to fall by 5 cents a litre next week, and diesel by a further 3 cents a litre.
