The terminal control fee is payable for the performance of air traffic control operations for approach and aerodrome, including the use of radio aids inherent to landing or take off, by NAV Portugal. It is defined per metric ton of maximum take-off weight.
Starting next year, airlines will pay a unit fee of €171.57, €8.27 more than the €163.30 set for 2023. This increase interrupts a series of decreases in this cost, which brought the fee down from €180.70 in 2023 to €163.30 last year.
The fee applies to services provided at the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira, Porto Santo, Santa Maria, Ponta Delgada, Horta and Flores, as well as the Cascais municipal aerodrome.
Transitionally, until the publication of specific legislation, the determination and setting of the terminal fee is made by decree of the member of the Government responsible for the area of transport, after an opinion from the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC).
The fees to be charged by ANA have also already been determined. ANAC (National Civil Aviation Authority) announced on the 19th that it had decided to approve the concessionaire's tariff proposal for the Porto and Faro airports, which, "in general terms, represents an average increase of 2.40% in regulated fees" at these two infrastructures. At Lisbon airport, "regulated fees, in general terms, show an average increase of approximately 0.65%".
ANAC decided not to approve the proposed adjustments to the PMR fee (for services for people with reduced mobility), the security fee, and the landing fee.

How can this be justified at a time when Portugals Airports are in chaos.
